Produce Notes: Red, White, and Blue!
Red strawberries, White Nectarines, and Blueberries headline another phenomenal week.
Tomatoes, spinach, Romaine lettuce, and cukes will be at the party too!
June Field Notes
Produce Notes:
Some hearty and gorgeous spinach hitting your plate this upcoming week. And just because I can eat a bag of them in 15 minutes, the grapes will be calling the Harvest Boxes home next week too.
Other than that, we are looking at more berries, greens, citrus fiesta, large and small tomatoes, heirloom potatoes, onions, and some avocados to round off your week. Fresh grass-fed beef in this week that is likely to disappear quickly. Have a fun weekend.
Savor the Summer Flavors
Produce Notes: First glance at corn for the season. Only a limited number of shares though so I would add those early. We will have more to come.
The flavors of New Mexico this week look like this: Tomatoes, Romaine lettuce, Zucchini, Cucumbers, Red bell peppers, Kale, and Cantaloupe.
Farmers’ Market Season
Produce Notes: Tons of New Mexico grown produce for you. Tomatoes, romaine lettuce, zucchini, cucumbers, bell peppers, kale, and cantaloupe all ripe and ready for your taste-buds.
Strawberries continue to impress me every week too. And the Las Palmalitas avocados are some of the best that we have ever had. All in all, a great time to be eating your fruits and veggies. Happy summer break to all you parents out there.
A Face to Love
Quick produce note, we had a grower call us and lament that he had some incredibly tasty tangerines, but that some weather issues had made them with “a face that only a mother could love.” So instead of watching tasty fruit go homeless, we jumped on the opportunity to find those tangies a home. So you will see perfectly high quality tangerines hit your doorstep, that may not look like they are ready for a beauty pageant. You will love the flavor and the value though.
Driven By Emotions
It’s Alive! Plant Sale was resurrected this week and we will be open tomorrow, Saturday, from 9-Noon at the Warehouse 3435 Stanford Dr NE
Not a ton of tomatoes this year, but some great melons, squash, and greens.
Thanks Mom!
Tons of fruits to choose from for this upcoming week. Perfect for your mother’s day celebration. Speaking of mother’s day…
We have got you covered!
A Changing Sea
Brussels Sprouts are back. Along with berries, mangoes, and some gorgeous New Mexican tomatoes. Happy Earth Day to you and your lucky little taste buds.
Strawberries and Citrus Party
Due to the greenhouse project mentioned below in last week’s newsletter, I have been up to my eyeballs with potting soil, baby plants, and seeds. So instead of telling you that my goat ate my homework, I will just tell you it has been an insane week around here and I didn’t manage my time well enough to write a newsletter.
Food Hours vs Food Miles
Quick Note: We have morphed our first recipe kit (The Enchantment Box) into a little thing that we like to call “The Dinner Bag” Pretty catchy little name right? The idea is that we will have 2 dinner plans every week with all ingredients and a cute recipe card included. And you do not have to worry about anything because “It’s in the Bag!” Ah, now you’re following the marketing thread.
