The Power of We over Me

January 27, 2017 by monte

The promise of Spring is coming

I have noticed something recently; social media seems to have been flooded with shots of crowds and not selfies with puckered up lips looking like a guppy fish. Our country seems like a fired up place right now. People marching in protest. People walking in support. And people jogging just to hang onto those final threads of their New Year’s resolution. Whatever the reason, there is a very strong sense of We right now in our country wherever your political flag is planted.

Race to the Middle

January 20, 2017 by monte

I read a pretty interesting article that I have to tell you did not sit all that well in my stomach next to my breakfast burrito. The article was highlighting how chain restaurants are flooding into Albuquerque right now trying to find their position in a very competitive market.

A Little Mental Floss for You?

January 12, 2017 by monte

So I have a mental exercise that I would like for you to do as homework before throwing a tooth into some amazing foods. Or maybe do it while you are chewing. Up to you amigos.

Arizona Dreaming and 5/20 Meals

January 6, 2017 by monte

What a great kick off to 2017. I could not be happier with all of the fresh produce that we are seeing right now. This week will hit the low 70s pretty consistently on our Arizona farms. And for those of you who are like me and can speak to plants, you know that when temperatures are in the 70s plants are happy. That is when plants are in their “chill zone” (I made that term up so don’t try and Google it).

Resolution and Citrus Season

December 30, 2016 by monte

What a wild end to the year. For some folks, the holiday season is a time to unwind, relax and knock back some egg nog. But it has become a fairly crazy time for me around the farm. I know it seems like it shouldn’t be with the cold weather and all, but it is a pretty anxious time for me.

Holiday Schedule and New Farm Land

December 9, 2016 by monte

So let’s talk a second about the upcoming holiday schedule. Usually there is a lot of schedule changing that goes on around the holidays for us. But this year, with Christmas on a Sunday, well, there just aren’t that many pawns to move. So delivery days will remain as scheduled with the one exception that we will Not have a Sunday Same-Day Delivery route on Christmas. Other than that, plan on us being able to keep you fed all the way until the ball drops and into a healthy ’17.

The Site and The Challenge

December 2, 2016 by monte

The Site. I know that many of you hate surprises. You have gotten used to our sometimes quirky web site over the years. It is imperfect but you have learned how to deal with it. You are not thrilled with it, but it works. But amigos, we have a huge facelift coming your way. This is not just an aesthetic change but a complete restructuring to keep up with the technological advances that we are seeing in home delivery.

A Little Reflection

Shhh, do you hear that? No, I don’t either. It is completely silent the day after Thanksgiving. No drivers on the road, no farmers in the fields, no busy hands and feet in the warehouse. Over the years, our mission has grown so much that we now have someone working to bring you better food 7 days a week. Some days we run 22 hours a day to keep you supplied with freshness. But today it is all at peace. Resting.

Happy Thanksgiving

November 18, 2016 by monte

Folks, just a tasty celebration of food and family coming your way. I think the best offering that we have ever put together from our fields and our friends. Take a few minutes and get an order in and then go do something fun instead of standing around cranky grocery stores this weekend. For Albuquerque customers east of the Big River (that doesn’t look so Grande right now), we are trying a cool thing and offering an Express Route on Thanksgiving morning. Order by 9 am and have delivery by Noon.
