What a crazy week last week was for deliveries. Sure, we did not get it as badly as other folks around the country, but that really challenged our delivery limits. Good thing our drivers carry snowshoes. Really proud of all our chariot drivers who got all of the deliveries out and brought themselves (and our rigs) back in one piece. Nice to have professionals on your team!
Connecting the State
After sheltering, altering, and avoiding change for the last year, there is not a better movie to watch this Groundhog Day than Groundhog Day. If you have not seen it yet, you need to. And if you have seen it 100 times like me, there will be something else to make you laugh the next time you watch it.
January Resolutions
Here is a little love letter I wrote to the first month of the year.
Dear January,
You fill me with so much optimism every year. I get to finally hit the reset button on all the bad decisions I have made and all the tasty biscochitos I have eaten. It is time for resolutions and planning on how to live the best life I can. Love, Farmer M.
Holidays and Local Food Ramblings
Quick Schedule Notes for the Holidays. We will be closed with NO deliveries on Christmas, Friday 12/25.
We will, however, be delivering on 12/24, 12/31, and 1/1/21!
We want you to be as safe as possible this holiday season and that means bring you as much food as possible without you having to leave the casa to go to the store.
The Biggest Week
I have to begin this week by saying that I am so thrilled and proud of our team that we have. Let me lay this out for you…
Planning Ahead
Thanksgiving Schedule. We will NOT have any deliveries Thursday (Thanksgiving) or Friday. Our crew has been working so hard this year. I want all of them to relax and enjoy their holiday as much as possible. Plus you will be stuffing your pie hole with leftovers and will not need any more food those days. So Please adjust any standing orders away from those days.
Navigating the Storm
So we have a saying around here that “Numbers don’t lie.” Numbers don’t get hunches, have feelings, get political, or get emotional. Numbers tell a story whether you like it or not. And right now, COVID numbers in our enchanted state aren’t good.
Chasing the Mirage
Over the last 17 years, we have seen a pretty wild roller-coaster in the business. And let me say that I know that we are not unique. Every small business is on a bucking bronco of a ride. It is not for everyone, but I can honestly say that I have not had a boring day in the last 2 decades.
Update on The Stand & Excelsior Harvest
Excelsior Orchards has begun the apple harvest. Apples have become so ubiquitous that not many people get all that excited about an apple harvest. Well I am that food nerd who loves when our Colorado apples begin. We will start the sea-son with Galas. Again, most Galas are a rather pedestrian piece of fruit. But not from Excelsior.
The Stand
There are only a few times in life when you have opportunities to realize your dreams. Take, for example, when I wanted to play in the NBA. My work ethic was strong, but then my coaches started to measure my vertical jump in corn tortillas and not inches. Unfortunately, I had to let that dream go. But as one door slams in your face, another one cracks open.
